Amid a four-game losing streak in the Brazilian Serie A, the executive admitted his concern regarding the current situation of the club from Porto Alegre, which is preparing to face Flamengo at the Beira-Rio Stadium. “I understand the fans’ frustration,” stated Grunberg. “On Wednesday, we have a very tough battle. I hope the fans can be present, and if they choose not to be, I understand. But I am certain they will be there to support the team.” The statement, made following the loss to Athletico Paranaense, reflects the pressure the club is currently under.
Internacional’s negative run includes setbacks against Vitória and Bragantino before the World Cup break, and more recently, defeats to Cruzeiro and Athletico-PR. With only 21 points, the team sits in 16th place in the table, tied with Vasco and Remo, who are currently in the bottom four.
