Matheus França, former Flamengo player, loaned to Vini Jr’s club in Portugal
Attacking midfielder Matheus França, who emerged from Flamengo and recently played for Vasco, will embark on a new chapter in his career in European football.
The player has been loaned by Crystal Palace to Alverca, in Portugal, a club co-owned by forward Vini Jr, of Real Madrid.
The deal, made official this Friday (04), will last for one season, with a contract until June 2027, and includes a purchase option at the end of the period.
New Opportunity in Europe
At 22 years old, Matheus França seeks at Alverca the consistent playing time and prominence that distinguished him in 2022, during his stint at Flamengo, under coach Dorival Júnior.
After a season with below-expected performance at Vasco, where he played 27 matches and scored only one goal, the attacking midfielder will have the chance to rediscover his best football in Portugal.
At the Portuguese club, he will join other Brazilians such as Zé Rafael and Rayan Lucas.
Crystal Palace’s Investment
Crystal Palace paid 20 million euros, plus 5 million in performance-based add-ons, to sign Matheus França in 2023.
Despite signing a contract until June 2028, the player was unable to establish himself in the English team, which led him to seek new alternatives.
The loan to Alverca is seen as an opportunity for the athlete to resume his development and showcase the potential that made him a global prospect.
