Léo Ortiz detailed concerns regarding altitude, especially in cities like Quito. He emphasized that it’s not about being ‘fussy’ but rather a factor that demands adaptation and tactical intelligence.
The defender analyzed:
In Quito, the ball’s speed changes a lot, and they are used to shooting from distance because they train there. But you can play if you’re smart. You can’t play the same game as at the Maracanã; you need to think through each action better.
Physiology explains the difficulty: the lower oxygen concentration at high altitudes accelerates fatigue and affects performance, requiring a period of acclimatization to mitigate the effects.
