EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES

The achievement occurred during Bac Ninh‘s 1-0 victory over Công An HCMC, in a match valid for the Vietnam league.

At 28 years old, Rafael Santos has built a career marked by stints in various countries.

After wearing the Mais Querido (Flamengo’s nickname) jersey between 2019 and 2020, the player gained experience at Apoel (Cyprus) and in Portuguese football.

He played for clubs such as Moreirense, Santa Clara, and Leixões. His arrival in Vietnam represents a new chapter in his quest for prominence.

A Meaningful Achievement

The 100-game milestone goes beyond statistics for the Brazilian.

In a recent statement, the defender highlighted the resilience needed to overcome physical obstacles and continue performing at a high level.

It’s the realization of a childhood dream, even more so given the journey I’ve had, with some serious injuries, but which I managed to overcome and continue. Reaching 100 games today is a very important milestone in my career. I hope to keep playing for a long time, as it’s what I love to do most and the profession I chose for my life.

The defender also celebrated the emotional context of the match, which was attended by his family members in the stands.

The victory marked Bac Ninh‘s first-ever win in the top tier of the national championship, the V.League 1.

Challenges and Future in Vietnam

With a contract valid until June 2027, Rafael Santos is a key player for Bac Ninh‘s project.

The club, recently founded in 2023, seeks to establish solidity after achieving promotion to the Vietnamese first division.

The presence of a player with European experience and trained at Flamengo raises the squad’s competitiveness.

Rafael Santos is remembered as one of the talents who sought opportunities away from Gávea (Flamengo’s training ground) after playing five games for the first team.

Also known for his physical resemblance to star player Virgil van Dijk, the Brazilian remains focused on establishing his name in Asian football.

He aims to transform the experience gained in Flamengo’s youth system into positive results for his new club.
