Sesc RJ Flamengo women’s volleyball team is ready to begin its 2026/2027 season. The opener will be this Thursday (25) with a major clash against Fluminense, marking the start of the SuperVôlei Cup at Arena Niterói.
This Rio derby not only represents Bernardinho‘s team’s first official match but also serves as a benchmark for Flamengo’s ambitions. Fans will be able to watch the clash live across various platforms, ensuring no moment of the highly anticipated debut is missed.
SuperVôlei Cup Season Opener
The clash between Sesc RJ Flamengo and Fluminense is scheduled for this Thursday (25). The first serve will be at Arena Niterói, promising a spectacle in the first round of the SuperVôlei Cup.

Pre-Season Under Bernardinho’s Guidance
Under the guidance of renowned coach Bernardinho, Sesc RJ Flamengo began preparations for the new season in June. The team faced an adaptation period, with significant absences due to players’ commitments with their respective national teams.
Even with parts of the squad and the coach absent, the team underwent intensive physical training at the Army Physical Education School (EsEFEx). The players remain focused and motivated, seeking final adjustments for the debut and for the rest of the Superliga season.
Strong Youth Prospects and Triumphant Returns
The Sesc RJ Flamengo squad for the SuperVôlei Cup features the integration of young talents from their youth system. Middle blocker Nayla, 19 years old and 2.03m tall, and outside hitter Giovanna Perrota, 20 years old and 1.82m tall, reinforce the team in the competition, demonstrating a commitment to youth.
However, the team is still dealing with the recoveries of Serbian middle blocker Minja Osmajić, following a finger fracture, and outside hitter Karina, who is treating an ankle injury. On the other hand, Flamengo celebrates the return of opposite hitter Tainara, middle blocker Lorena, and setter Vívian. The trio won gold at the South American Championship with the Brazil national team and secured a spot in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Busy Schedule: From Niterói to the Superliga
After the derby against Fluminense, the SuperVôlei Cup continues for Sesc RJ Flamengo with another challenge. On Saturday (26), Bernardinho‘s team faces Dentil Praia Clube at 7 PM (Brasília time) in a clash that replays last season’s Women’s Superliga semifinal.
The sequence of games includes a friendly match against the same Dentil Praia Clube on October 3rd in Rio Grande do Sul. Subsequently, the team will compete in the Campeonato Carioca between October 6th and 13th, before making its highly anticipated debut in the Women’s Superliga on October 19th against Paulistano Barueri, at 9 PM (Brasília time) at Tijuca Tênis Clube.
