Flamengo secured a historic R$ 10 million annual financial injection for its women’s soccer team after the Deliberative Council approved a strategic partnership with the Maricá City Hall.
Flamengo’s women’s soccer program has taken a giant leap towards financial sustainability and structural consolidation. In a meeting held last Tuesday (29), the club’s Deliberative Council unanimously approved a sponsorship agreement with the Maricá City Hall.
The commercial alliance will inject R$ 10 million per year into the sport’s coffers. This provides unprecedented momentum for the project to compete on equal footing with the leading powers in the national and South American scene.

Financial Impact and New Name
The negotiated amount represents more than half of the department’s annual operating costs. According to Flamengo’s management assessment, the capital injection drastically reduces the dependence on resources from the men’s soccer team and paves the way for economic self-sufficiency.
As part of the commercial agreement, the main team will now be known as Flamengo Maricá. Furthermore, the pact ensures the visibility of the Rio de Janeiro state city’s brand on game uniforms, backdrops, advertising boards, and at the training center.
Structural and Social Counterparts
The project goes far beyond brand exposure on the red-and-black jersey. The municipal administration of Maricá plans to build a modern stadium with a capacity for 30,000 spectators, which could serve as a home for future Flamengo matches.
The agreement also includes a strong social component in the metropolitan region. Plans include the creation of sports centers for young people aged 10 to 17, local tryouts, and training for public school educators using the Rio de Janeiro club’s methodology.

While the board celebrates financial success behind the scenes, the team, led by the technical staff, remains fully focused on the competitions at hand. The team seeks to regain prominence after being eliminated in the semifinals of the Brazilian Women’s Championship by São Paulo.
The red-and-black squad’s next official commitment will be a crucial match in the Women’s Copa do Brasil. Flamengo will face rivals Fluminense in the quarterfinals, with matches scheduled for October 15th and 22nd at the Luso-Brasileiro Stadium, with live broadcast on SporTV.
