Flamengo reaffirmed its firm stance in the transfer market by promptly rejecting an offer from Wolves, from England, for goalkeeper Andrew, keeping the player in the red-and-black squad.
Flamengo continues to demonstrate strength behind the scenes by shielding its squad from European football’s pursuit. Recently, the Rio de Janeiro club’s board was approached by Wolves, who were seeking to sign goalkeeper Andrew. However, Rubro-Negro did not even open room for negotiations, ending the matter before formalizing any figures.
The English club’s move was led by coach Cézar Peixoto, who worked with the 25-year-old goalkeeper during his time at Gil Vicente, in Portugal. The Portuguese club, in fact, was the one that negotiated the player’s transfer to Mais Querido at the beginning of the season. According to Equipe M360, the attempt by the British team—which will compete in the second division—was promptly dismissed by Flamengo‘s football department.
Andrew’s Situation in the Squad
Although he has not yet solidified his starting position, currently held by Rossi, goalkeeper Andrew is part of the team’s long-term plans. The player, who has made only seven appearances in 2026, in addition to friendly matches played in Portugal, has a contract valid until 2029.
