Flamengo promptly dismissed an approach from Russia’s Krasnodar for midfielder Jorge Carrascal. The club’s board considered the 7 million euro proposal insufficient to release the player.
Activity in the transfer market remains intense behind the scenes at Gávea. While the football department works to strengthen the squad led by Leonardo Jardim, the club’s leadership also needs to protect itself against external interest.
The latest target was Colombian player Jorge Carrascal, who attracted interest from Russian football, but his departure was vetoed by Mais Querido.
According to information gathered by the M360 team, Krasnodar formalized an offer of 7 million euros, approximately 41 million Brazilian Reais at the current exchange rate.
However, the amount was promptly rejected by Flamengo‘s board. The internal understanding is that the offer is far below the player’s technical level and the investment made by the club for his signing in 2025.
Investment and Player Valuation in the Squad
Acquired from Dynamo Moscow for 12 million euros, Carrascal has a current contract with the Rubro-Negro until 2029. Understanding that the midfielder is a fundamental substitute and is in a process of ascent, the club did not even open discussions to negotiate the terms.
The M360 team assessed the situation:
Flamengo’s firm stance demonstrates that the club does not intend to release key players from the current squad for what are considered negligible amounts, especially concerning a player with a long-term contract and growth potential under the command of Leonardo Jardim.
Performance and Focus on the Brazilian Championship
In 2026, the midfielder has 35 appearances and five goals scored. Even without being an undisputed starter, his tactical importance was clear in the recent 3-0 victory over Botafogo, when he came off the bench to score and provide an assist.
The athlete was also part of the Colombia national team squad in the last World Cup.
Now, Carrascal‘s focus returns to the Brazilian Championship. The player is listed and available for Wednesday’s (02) match against Mirassol, a postponed fixture from the fourth round.
The clash, which will be held at Maracanã, is seen as an opportunity for the team to consolidate its position in the standings and continue in the fight for the top spots in the national competition.
