Amid transfer market rumors, Flamengo reaffirms its focus on Thiago Almada, while the situation of Luiz Henrique, a former Botafogo player, remains without concrete developments.

Brazilian football thrives on expectations and behind-the-scenes movements. At Ninho do Urubu, the buzz around new signings is gaining priority, and Thiago Almada‘s name emerges as the primary target. A recent meeting between Flamengo‘s football director, José Boto, and William Bento, agent for several athletes, including Luiz Henrique, has been clarified. Sources close to the red-and-black board indicate that the meeting’s main agenda was not a negotiation for the forward, a former Botafogo player.

A statement from a Flamengo executive, reported by journalist Pablo Rua, was clear: “there are still not enough elements to treat the interest as a concrete negotiation.” Bento’s proximity to the club, representing other players, ensures a smooth relationship, but not necessarily progress in specific negotiations.

Almada is the Focus, Luiz Henrique Remains Distant

Flamengo‘s absolute priority at this moment is to finalize the signing of Thiago Almada. The expectation is that the negotiation will be concluded by the end of next week. Meanwhile, rumors about Luiz Henrique are gaining traction, with journalist Jorge Nicola reporting an alleged offer of €35 million (approximately R$204 million). However, the Rio de Janeiro club’s official statement denies any concrete movement regarding the player.

On the black-and-white side (Botafogo), the club also finds itself in a saga. The attempt to repatriate Luiz Henrique faces difficulties with Zenit, the Russian club that holds the player’s rights. Information indicates dissatisfaction from the Russian board with how Botafogo handled outstanding financial matters related to player Artur, leading to a strained relationship.

Danilo and the Russian Impasse

Midfielder Danilo, another player of interest to Zenit, has his transfer complicated by his refusal to play in Russian football. This situation adds another chapter to the negotiation challenges. Despite the obstacles, Botafogo has not given up on Luiz Henrique, who, in turn, expresses interest in returning to the club where he enjoyed a great period, winning the Libertadores and the Brazilian Serie A of 2024.
