New Flamengo collection featuring Jeremias celebrates Mauricio de Sousa’s 90th birthday.
Flamengo has launched a special collection in honor of the 90th birthday of Mauricio de Sousa, the renowned creator of Monica and Friends (Turma da Mônica). The exclusive line stars the character Jeremias, a well-known fan of the club in the comic books. The result of a collaboration between the club, MSP Estúdios, and the company Só Ídolos, the collection features Jeremias in prints that blend Flamengo’s colors and symbols with references to iconic moments in the club’s history.
Products celebrating the Rubro-Negro passion
The initiative, developed and marketed by Só Ídolos, offers a wide variety of items for fans. The catalog includes t-shirts, caps, cups, pillows, coasters, keychains, and popcorn buckets, among other products. Some items make direct allusions to major achievements, such as the four-time Copa Libertadores da América championship and the 1981 Intercontinental Cup title.
Launch and availability
The official launch of the collection is scheduled for September 20, coinciding with the Brazilian Serie A match between Flamengo and Red Bull Bragantino, which will take place at Maracanã Stadium. Following the launch event, the products will be available for purchase at official Clube de Regatas do Flamengo stores and can also be acquired online through the Só Ídolos website.
The connection between Flamengo and Monica and Friends
The relationship between Flamengo and the Monica and Friends universe has previous chapters. In 2019, Mauricio de Sousa himself paid tribute to striker Gabigol, drawing him alongside Jeremias. Although Mauricio de Sousa is a declared São Paulo fan, he frequently uses his characters to celebrate sports and healthy rivalries, promoting positive values. MSP Estúdios, the company he founded, is a pioneer in character licensing in Brazil and has established itself as a force in national entertainment, expanding its operations across various platforms.
The new collection not only celebrates the legacy of Mauricio de Sousa and Jeremias’s passion for Flamengo but also strengthens the bonds between sports and pop culture, offering fans another way to express their love for the club. The partnership promises to appeal to both football fans and admirers of the iconic Monica and Friends characters.
