The Flamengo squad concludes its rest period this Tuesday and resumes activities at Ninho do Urubu this Wednesday, focusing on the final stretch of the Super FIFA Break.
After four days off, the group led by coach Leonardo Jardim returns to work at Ninho do Urubu. The team will now have a crucial week of preparation, totaling eight days of intensive training before their official return to the pitch for the Brazilian Serie A. The coaching staff aims to fine-tune the final details to maintain the high level displayed before the break.
Focus on the Brazilian Serie A Lead
The Rubro-Negro enters this phase of the calendar in a positive moment, leading the Brasileirão with 60 points — three points ahead of Palmeiras, their closest competitor. The team’s planning, which included a first stage of training between September 22 and 25, aims to ensure stamina for the upcoming marathon of games in October, involving national competitions and the Libertadores final.
Key Absence: Arrascaeta
Despite the resumption of activities, not all players will be available to Leonardo Jardim. The club is dealing with the absences of those called up to their national teams: Pedro, Samuel Lino, Varela, and Anthony Valencia. The biggest concern, however, revolves around De Arrascaeta. The midfielder suffered a fracture in his left wrist while playing for the Uruguay national team.
According to an official statement from the M360 Team:
“Flamengo Regattas Club doctor, Fernando Sassaki, recently received the results of exams performed on midfielder De Arrascaeta in South Korea. A fracture in his left wrist was confirmed, requiring surgery. The player will return to Brazil, where he will be re-evaluated before the procedure and will continue his recovery.”
Crucial October Schedule
Flamengo‘s next commitment will be against Santos, on October 8, at 7:30 PM, at Vila Belmiro. Immediately afterward, the schedule includes the classic match against Fluminense, and subsequently, the first leg of the Libertadores semifinal against Estudiantes (ARG) on the 15th.
The preparation beginning this Wednesday is considered vital by the coaching staff to maintain their lead in the national competition and approach the decisive continental tournament matches with maximum competitiveness. Fans are hoping for the swift recovery of their key players for the season’s final challenges.
