Flamengo and Palmeiras have been confirmed as Brazil’s representatives in the Messi Cup, an U-16 tournament that will bring together giants from Europe and the Americas in Miami.
The youth academies of Flamengo and Palmeiras have added a significant commitment to their international calendar. The two Brazilian clubs were officially announced for the second edition of the Messi Cup, a competition organized by star player Lionel Messi. The event, set to take place in Miami, United States, promises to be one of the biggest stages for showcasing young global soccer talents.
The tournament is scheduled to run from October 25 to November 1. With an expanded structure, this year’s edition will feature 16 teams from nine different countries, totaling 48 intense matches over eight days of competition. The tournament aims not only to elevate the technical level but also to provide a crucial cultural and sports exchange for the athletes’ development.
An Elite Roster at the Tournament
The Messi Cup will bring together global powerhouses looking to test their future stars. In addition to the Brazilian teams, confirmed clubs include Barcelona, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Ajax, and Benfica. The South American scene will also feature strong representatives, including Boca Juniors, Newell’s Old Boys, River Plate, and Independiente del Valle.

The Rubro-Negro squad will take the field this Friday (25) to face Nova Iguaçu in a match for the fifth round of the Guilherme Embry Tournament, organized by Ferj. The game will be played away from home, at 10 AM.
While the youth squad gains international experience, Flamengo‘s professional team is also preparing for its next steps. The team led by the Rubro-Negro coaching staff is concentrating its efforts on the clash against Santos, scheduled for October 8, in the Campeonato Brasileiro. The expectation is that the performance of the youth categories will continue to bear fruit for the club’s future.
