Copa do Brasil 2026: State Derby Matches Mark the Quarterfinals
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) held the draw for the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil 2026. The next stage of the competition, which will determine the semifinalists, promises intense emotions with three state derby matches.
The first and second leg matches are scheduled for the weeks of August 26 and September 2, respectively.
Defined Matchups and Bracket
The draws defined the following clashes: Internacional will face Grêmio in a Rio Grande do Sul derby; Cruzeiro and Atlético-MG will meet in a Minas Gerais showdown; Vasco will play against Vitória in an interstate derby; and Palmeiras will compete for a spot against Santos, featuring the São Paulo derby.
The bracket also indicates that the winner of the clash between Internacional and Grêmio will face the team that advances from the duel between Cruzeiro and Atlético-MG.
On the other side of the bracket, the winner of Vasco and Vitória will duel against the winner of the São Paulo derby between Palmeiras and Santos.
Prize Money and Upcoming Dates
Qualifying for the quarterfinals has already secured R$ 4 million for each of the eight remaining clubs, bringing the accumulated prize money to R$ 9 million. Advancing to the semifinals will reward each team with an additional R$ 9 million.
The dates for the subsequent phases have also been confirmed: the semifinals will take place in the weeks of November 1 and 13, and the grand final, a single match, will be held on December 6.
The current edition of the Copa do Brasil initially featured 126 clubs and now focuses only on teams from the Brazilian Serie A.
