EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES

Flamengo leads among Brazilians in the Libertadores

In America’s most coveted continental tournament, Flamengo stands out as the Brazilian club with the highest accumulated prize money so far.

The Rio de Janeiro club has accumulated $9.61 million (approximately R$ 49.88 million).

Next are the other Brazilian representatives in the semifinals: Palmeiras, with $9.27 million (about R$ 48.11 million), and Fluminense, with $8.93 million (approximately R$ 46.35 million).

Argentina’s Estudiantes rounds out the group of Libertadores semifinalists with the same amount as the Tricolor from Rio.

Sudamericana prizes are significant, though lower

In the Copa Sudamericana, the prize money, while significant, is lower than that of the Libertadores.

Vasco da Gama leads among the Brazilian semifinalists in the competition, with $3.87 million (about R$ 20.09 million).

Uruguay’s Montevideo City Torque appears in second place with $3.73 million (approximately R$ 19.36 million), followed by Atlético Mineiro, which secured $3.38 million (about R$ 13.49 million).

Boca Juniors with a dual campaign and split earnings

The storied Boca Juniors presents a unique situation, participating in the semifinals of both competitions.

The Argentine club has already secured $3.68 million (about R$ 19.10 million) in the Sudamericana and adds $2.6 million (approximately R$ 13.49 million) in prize money for its campaign in the Libertadores, totaling a considerable sum.

Matchups to determine finalists and increase revenue

The upcoming matches promise to be electrifying and will determine the finalists of each tournament.

In the Libertadores, a national clash will pit Fluminense against Palmeiras, with the first leg scheduled for the Maracanã on October 14.

In the other semifinal, Estudiantes hosts Flamengo the following day.

In the Sudamericana, Vasco faces a challenge against Boca Juniors at the mythical Bombonera, while Atlético Mineiro takes on Montevideo City Torque.

The expectation is that the second legs, on October 20 and 21, will define the finalists and further boost the clubs’ coffers.

The financial impact of the campaign, added to the excitement of the title race, makes this final stretch even more special for fans and club boards alike.
