A product of Flamengo’s youth academy, goalkeeper César made his mark in the club’s history as part of one of the most successful generations in Brazilian football. Currently playing for Deportes Concepción in Chile, the keeper gave an emotional interview where he reaffirmed his unconditional love for the club.
In a recent chat, César highlighted that his history at Gávea goes far beyond the titles he won. For him, the club was the foundation of his professional and personal development, helping him overcome the challenges of a period of structural transition that he witnessed firsthand.
A story marked by resilience and trophies
Regarding his time wearing the Manto Sagrado, the player fondly recalled the challenges he faced. In an interview with the portal GE, César stated:
Flamengo will be with me for the rest of my life. The experience and everything I went through there… I always talk about it because it is impossible not to look back and not have a heart filled with gratitude for everything I experienced. It is about humility and respect.
César also recalled the evolution of the club’s infrastructure, comparing the limited resources of 2011 to the excellence of the present day.
Between 2010 and 2022, the athlete experienced highs and lows, tallying 65 official matches and a trophy cabinet filled with honors, including the Copa Libertadores, two Brazilian Serie A titles, one Copa do Brasil, one Supercopa do Brasil, one Recopa Sudamericana, and five state championships.
The iconic moment in 2019
One of the episodes most remembered by fans occurred during the 2019 Copa Libertadores. In a decisive match against Peñarol in Uruguay, César was named in the starting lineup by manager Abel Braga under intense pressure. With a stellar performance, the goalkeeper helped the team secure a heroic draw, even while playing with ten men, ensuring their progression in the continental competition.
Since his departure in 2022, César has kept Flamengo close to his heart. As the former goalkeeper continues his international career, the Rubro-Negro shifts its focus to the challenges of the 2026 season.
