The América board of directors has confirmed a significant change in its football department: Carlos Moura, a former player and club legend, is stepping down as technical coordinator after four seasons. His departure marks the end of his second stint with the club and is part of a broader restructuring process ahead of the upcoming season.
New leadership in the Football Department
Tácito Pegado has been named the new technical coordinator. Previously in charge of the youth academy, Pegado will now be tasked with leading the planning and assembly of the professional squad. This move reflects América‘s strategy to adjust its internal structure following a period of major achievements.
Carlos Moura’s legacy at América
Carlos Moura shares a deep history with América. As a player, he was part of key moments, such as the promotion to Serie A in 1996 and the 1998 Copa do Nordeste title. After retiring from the pitch, he served in various administrative and technical roles, including a stint as interim head coach. His return in 2022 coincided with the successful Serie D campaign that brought the club back to Serie C, as well as winning four consecutive state titles (2023-2026).

The departure of Carlos Moura is not the only adjustment. Football executive manager Daniel de Paula has also left the club.
