Following an early exit from the World Cup, the Brazil national team is dismantling its operations in the United States and beginning its return home amidst a backdrop of deep frustration.

Brazil’s run in the World Cup ended in melancholic fashion on American soil. Following a painful 2-1 loss to Norway, which sealed their elimination in the Round of 16, the Brazilian delegation said goodbye to their base in Morristown, New Jersey. The mood is one of devastation, with the dream of a sixth title being cut short prematurely.

As of Sunday night, the players were released by the coaching staff and given the freedom to reunite with their families. The group, now fragmented, is expected to return to Brazil next Tuesday via a chartered flight, although it is not mandatory for all players to be on the aircraft.

Uncertainty surrounding Ancelotti’s future

One of the points fueling the most speculation among fans is the situation of head coach Carlo Ancelotti. The manager, who resides in Vancouver, Canada, has not yet had his return confirmed with the rest of the delegation. His continuation at the helm of the national squad, following such a performance falling short of expectations, is an unknown that is expected to dominate debates in the coming days.

“Those who land in Brazil bring back a melancholic feeling in their luggage. The dream of a sixth title was left behind following the 2-1 defeat to Norway.”

Historical drought and negative milestones

The early elimination represents not just the end of the tournament, but the consolidation of a critical moment for Brazilian football. The team equaled its worst performance since the fateful elimination by Argentina in 1990. With this result, Brazil extends its longest drought of world titles since winning its first, leaving fans waiting at least 28 years to compete for the ultimate glory again, only in 2030.

The impact of this exit is immeasurable for the renewal of the national team. The situation of devastation demands a deep analysis by the CBF regarding the work carried out and the planning for the next cycle, as frustration has taken over the entire country following the early departure from the world tournament.
