Botafogo has intensified negotiations to secure the signing of midfielder Mateo Peralta, a young standout from Danubio, aiming to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season’s challenges.

The transfer market activity remains intense behind the scenes at Botafogo.

The management of the Rio de Janeiro club has taken decisive steps to finalize a deal for one of the brightest talents in recent Uruguayan football,

demonstrating the administration’s ongoing focus on attracting young talent with high resale potential and immediate sporting impact.

The current target is midfielder Mateo Peralta, a player just 20 years old who wears the No. 10 jersey for Danubio.

Known for his vision on the field and organizational skills in the midfield,

the player has already received an official bid from Glorioso,

which presented a pre-contract proposal for a four-year deal, with an option for an additional season.

Strategy for early release

Despite the optimism within the Botafogo SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol – Football Corporation),

the main obstacle to the player’s immediate arrival is his current contract with the Montevideo club, which runs until March 2027.

To circumvent this situation and have the reinforcement available right at the opening of the transfer window on January 4th,

the club’s leadership is seeking an amicable agreement.

The proposal involves paying a modest financial compensation along with retaining a portion of the future economic rights for Danubio.

This financial engineering aims to convince the Uruguayan directors to release the playmaker before the official contract end date.

The management is proceeding cautiously but is confident in the strength of their sporting project to persuade both the club and the player to expedite the move to Brazilian football.

Profile and history of the South American prospect

Considered a gem in his home country, Mateo Peralta has earned call-ups to Uruguay’s youth national teams,

having been part of the squad that competed in the U-20 South American Championship.

Even with his team’s inconsistent performance in the national championship,

the midfielder stood out throughout the season, accumulating dozens of starts and direct goal contributions.

If the outcome is positive, Botafogo will add another significant piece to their midfield,

aiming to strengthen the squad for upcoming South American and national competitions,

maintaining its policy of investing in young talents from the continent.
