Bap takes advantage of gym inauguration in Gávea to tease Smart Fit owner and gifts a Palmeiras fan with an autographed Flamengo jersey.
Flamengo inaugurated, this past Friday (24), a new Smart Fit gym unit inside its social headquarters in Gávea. The event, which marks an important step in the club’s revenue diversification strategy, was the scene of a relaxed and provocative interaction between the red-and-black president, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, and businessman Edgar Corona, owner of the gym chain.
Playful teasing
During the ceremony, Bap didn’t miss the chance to joke about Edgar Corona being a declared Palmeiras fan. The executive handed the businessman an official Flamengo jersey, personalized with the number 10, which featured a special detail: the autograph of midfielder Danilo, a player who became known as Palmeiras’ tormentor in last year’s Libertadores final.
“I have a gift for you. Edgar is a Palmeiras fan, but in the red-and-black house, today you are Flamengo. The jersey has his name, number 10. Let me see here: autographs from Léo Jardim, Léo Pereira, Arrascaeta, and Danilo… You can take it,” declared Bap, to the laughter of those present.
Humor and expansion in Gávea
Edgar Corona received the teasing sportingly, putting on the red-and-black jersey right after. The Smart Fit owner joined in the fun and, commenting on the new partnership, humorously suggested that Lucas Paquetá should be wary, joking that he might seek a spot in the midfield of the Gávea team.
The new Smart Fit Mengão unit boasts an area of 830 square meters, equipped with the most modern facilities for weight training, free weights, and a SPA. With views of Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and Christ the Redeemer, the gym is open to the general public, although Flamengo members receive a special 10% discount on monthly fees.
The initiative consolidates the presence of major brands within the red-and-black structure, reinforcing the club’s objective to optimize the use of its assets and offer high-quality services to both its members and the local community.
