Midfielder Rayan Lucas, a product of Flamengo‘s youth academy, has officially completed a permanent transfer to Portugal‘s Alverca.
The international transfer market has claimed another young talent developed at Ninho do Urubu.
21-year-old midfielder Rayan Lucas was officially announced this Saturday (08) as Alverca‘s newest signing for the 2026/27 season. He secures his permanent departure from Flamengo after struggling to find a place in the first team managed by Leonardo Jardim.
The deal marks a significant shift in the player’s career, who had returned to the Rio club earlier this year following a stint with Sporting, also in Portugal.
The transaction was finalized after a failed attempt to negotiate with Athletic Club, which fell through due to disagreements over the deal structure, paving the way for the agreement with the Portuguese side.
Transfer details
Flamengo opted for a permanent sale of Rayan Lucas‘ rights but secured a 50% stake in the player’s future transfer value. This strategic clause allows the Rio club to profit from a potential future move for the midfielder to other European teams, maintaining a financial link with the player who shone in their youth ranks.
“Rayan Lucas‘ departure is part of the Rubro-Negro’s roster restructuring, which aims to provide young players with experience in markets where they can improve both technically and tactically,” notes the M360 Team.
Career outlook
Moving to Alverca represents an opportunity for Rayan Lucas to establish himself in professional football. Although he won major titles during his development, such as the U-20 Copa Libertadores, his current challenge is to adapt to the demands of the Portuguese schedule and seek the prominence he was unable to achieve while playing for Mais Querido.
For the fans, there is anticipation regarding the midfielder’s performance on European soil. With this move, Flamengo‘s board continues to monitor the development of their transferred assets, keeping the possibility of financial returns alive should the youngster succeed at his new club. Rayan Lucas‘ journey in Europe will be closely followed by the M360 Team.
