Flamengo squad returns to training this Friday, focusing on the Brazilian Serie A after a draw with Internacional.

Flamengo reports back to Ninho do Urubu this Friday (31), beginning preparations for its next match in the Brazilian Serie A. The Rubro-Negra team is coming off a 1-1 draw against Internacional, played last Wednesday (29) in the 21st round of the competition.

After the match, the players were given Thursday (30) off, but now return to training. This Friday’s session is scheduled for 10 AM (Brasília time). The main focus for the squad, led by Leonardo Jardim, is the continuation of the Brazilian Serie A, with training sessions also scheduled for Saturday (01) and Sunday (02), both starting at 10 AM.

The elimination from the Copa do Brasil at the hands of São Paulo means Flamengo will have about ten days free until its next Brazilian Serie A match. This break will allow the team to fully concentrate on its two remaining fronts: the Brazilian Serie A and the Copa Libertadores da América.

The Match Against Internacional:

Flamengo’s performance last Wednesday was marked by difficulties. In the first half, the team struggled to impose its rhythm and saw Internacional create the best chances, opening the scoring in the 27th minute with Vitinho.

In the second half, the Rubro-Negra team showed more possession but still struggled to create clear goal-scoring opportunities. The equalizer came in the 34th minute, courtesy of Samuel Lino, securing one point for Flamengo.

Next Fixture and League Standings:

Flamengo’s next challenge will be against Vitória on August 9th at the Maracanã. The match, valid for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Serie A, will kick off at 7:30 PM (Brasília time) and will be broadcast by SporTV, on the subscription channel, as well as Premiere via pay-per-view.

With the draw against Internacional and Palmeiras’ victory, Flamengo saw the gap to the league leaders widen to eight points. Currently, the Rio de Janeiro team sits in second place in the Brazilian Serie A standings with 39 points, while Palmeiras leads with 47. The team aims to close this gap in the upcoming rounds.
