The Transfer Market is sizzling with $19 billion at stake, but Brazilian football is on the sidelines. Where is the brilliance of our stars in this millionaire window?

The transfer window for the 2026/27 season, the highly anticipated Transfer Market, has already exploded with astronomical figures, surpassing the mark of R$19 billion (approximately $3.5 billion USD) in global transactions, equivalent to 3.2 billion euros. A financial volume that makes eyes sparkle, but which, ironically, reflects a concerning scenario for Brazilian football: the absence of our talents at the top of the most valuable negotiations.

While money circulates in European and emerging powerhouses, no player with the potential to wear the Brazil national team jersey has secured a spot among the 40 biggest deals closed so far. This panorama raises an alarm about the position of our football on the international transfer scene, which seems to be overlooking the land of soccer in this race for reinforcements.

Where Are Our Giants?

The most expensive player from Brazil in this edition of the Transfer Market is forward Alisson Santos. His move from Sporting to Napoli for 16.5 million euros places him only in 45th position in the world rankings. A modest ranking for the country that lives and breathes soccer.

The list of the most expensive Brazilians highlights a reality: young and little-known names predominate, who migrate early to Europe. A notable exception is left-back Caio Henrique, already called up to the national team, who swapped Monaco for Ajax for 10.5 million euros (R$61.6 million), a significant amount, but still far from the global top.

Global Records vs. Low Brazilian Representation

The analysis by “Blog do Rafael Reis”, with data from “Transfermarkt”, reveals that the total amount of the window includes both permanent sales, loans, and payments of old contractual obligations, such as the transfer of Geovany Quenda to Chelsea. It is crucial to remember that the previous season set a historic record, with 9.9 billion euros (R$58.1 billion) in deals. This year, although far from the record, we are still witnessing a true market frenzy.

Window Open, Opportunities Ahead

Despite the already high figures, the 2026/27 transfer window still has much to offer. Major leagues such as those in Germany, Spain, and Italy have recently opened. Saudi Arabia, an increasingly influential player, only begins its moves on July 22, promising to stir up the scene even more.

In Brazil, the anticipated winter window opens on July 20 and runs until September 11, a period that also includes the women’s football registrations. There is, therefore, hope that our clubs can strengthen their squads and, perhaps, export more talents for values commensurate with what our football truly represents.

Stars of the Moment and Financial Giants

Among the most expensive signings globally, Elliot Anderson (Manchester City) for 135 million euros and Sandro Tonali (Tottenham) for 108 million euros stand out. Among the Brazilians, besides Alisson Santos, are Felipe Augusto (Zenit Saint Petersburg) and Viery (Fiorentina), both valued at 15 million euros.

In the financial battle, Tottenham leads spending with 267 million euros, while Newcastle stands out as the club that has grossed the most, with 188 million euros. Among the leagues, the English Premier League dominates, spending 968.5 million euros, followed by a distant Italian and German league.

The transfer window is always a spectacle of numbers and dreams. For Brazilian football, this period demands reflection: are we developing players worthy of the global market? Or does the passion for the ball in Brazil need a new strategic direction for our talents to shine again on the podium of the world’s biggest deals? The Grit and Love for football demand answers and actions.
