Botafogo has reached an agreement in the last few hours for the signing of Uruguayan defender Lucas Monzón. UOL has learned that the club has come to a preliminary agreement with Racing de Montevideo to purchase 60% of the player’s economic rights for US$800,000 (R$4.1 million at the current exchange rate). However, the club will need to resolve its transfer ban to be able to register him. The defender, who played last season for Junior Barranquilla, is already in Brazil to undergo medical examinations and sign a contract valid until December 2029. The black-and-white club is currently working to lift the athlete registration sanctions, thus ensuring the registration of Monzón and the other reinforcements signed in this transfer window.
