Flamengo remains active in the transfer market looking for reinforcements for the second half of the season and maintains its interest in Luiz Henrique, of Zenit, and Danilo, of Botafogo. However, club executive Bap emphasized that these negotiations are complex and financially demanding, given that both players prioritize offers from European football due to the exposure it provides for the World Cup with the Brazil national team.

In an interview with Charla Podcast, Bap explained the difficulties: “I have no doubt that they are players who would add value, but at what cost? One of them wants to play in England. What he would earn there is similar to what I would pay in Brazil. How do you convince the player to come? There is no club in Brazil that can sign players in succession at the price of Paquetá.” The executive also highlighted the uncertainties regarding the players’ physical condition after the World Cup and the transfer window that opens on July 22.

Bap also addressed Flamengo‘s failed attempt to sign Jhon Arias. The club offered 22 million euros, but the player turned down the transfer for family reasons. “Flamengo tried very hard. If we like Luiz Henrique and Danilo, why wouldn’t other clubs see the same thing? They would fit into any team in South America. It’s not enough to just want them,” he stated.

Beyond the negotiations, the executive defended goalkeeper Rossi, who is currently facing scrutiny from fans. Bap reiterated the support from coach Leonardo Jardim for the player and ruled out any intention of selling him at this moment, noting that the player’s salary was recently adjusted based on merit. Finally, the executive confirmed that the club maintains its priorities in seeking a midfielder, a center-forward, and options for the left-back position, having even inquired about the status of Thiago Almada.
