The rivalry match between Sesc RJ Flamengo and Fluminense highlighted round three of the Women’s Carioca Volleyball Championship at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro.
In an action-packed match, the Tricolor side got the better of the Rubro-Negro team, closing out a 3-1 victory with set scores of 25-20, 26-24, 17-25, and 25-21.
The win guarantees the Laranjeiras club home-court advantage in the battle for the state championship title.
Tricolor dominance and Rubro-Negro response
Fluminense started by setting the pace of the game, taking advantage of passing errors from Bernardinho‘s team to take the first set 25-20.
In the second set, the final points were closely contested, but middle blocker Valquíria came up with a decisive block on Simone Lee, securing the 26-24 win for Fluminense.
Sesc RJ Flamengo fought back in the third set, fueled by attacks from Ariele and a strong performance by middle blocker Lorena, winning 25-17 to cut into the deficit.
Finishing strong and securing final home advantage
In the fourth set, head coach Facundo Morando‘s team adjusted its block to neutralize Tainara‘s attacks and regain control of the match.
Key points from Bianca Bertolino and Gabi Martins proved decisive down the stretch to consolidate the 25-21 Tricolor victory.
