Dynamo Moscow has officially stated the reason for blocking Gonzalo Plata‘s move, but Flamengo is challenging the diagnosis and evaluating the player for the remainder of the season.

Gonzalo Plata‘s transfer to Russian football has reached an unexpected conclusion. After passing initial hurdles, the forward failed his medical exams at Dynamo Moscow, derailing negotiations that were already in the final stages. The player is now returning to Rio de Janeiro to report back to Flamengo this Friday (4th).

The disagreement regarding the Ecuadorian’s physical condition has placed the Brazilian club and the European side at odds. While the Russian team maintains that the veto was a necessary precautionary measure, Flamengo‘s medical department remains confident in the player’s physical integrity, viewing the episode as a difference in evaluation criteria between the two institutions.

Dynamo Moscow’s side of the story

According to a statement from the Russian club, Plata failed his exams due to the identification of tendinopathy in his patellar tendon during routine screenings.

For Dynamo‘s doctors, the clinical condition would require immediate care, which led to the immediate termination of contract talks. The club chose not to proceed with the signing, claiming that the forward’s physical risk was incompatible with their expectations for the season.

Flamengo’s response

Conversely, Flamengo categorically disagrees with that analysis. Sources within the Rio club state that the player never reported pain in the area indicated by the Russians and had no history of injury before traveling.

The club maintains that the Ecuadorian had no type of injury prior to his trip to Russia, treating the case as a disagreement in evaluation between two distinct medical departments

Plata’s next steps with the squad

Gonzalo Plata‘s return has generated expectation within Leonardo Jardim‘s coaching staff. The forward will undergo a new round of tests at the Ninho do Urubu training ground so that the club can have an accurate diagnosis of his real physical state.

The player’s participation in the match against Remo in the Brazilian Serie A this Sunday (6th) remains uncertain and will depend entirely on approval from the club’s medical staff.

Regardless of his availability in Belém, the club’s goal is to have the player in peak condition for the decisive clash against Independente del Valle in the Copa Libertadores. The situation continues to be monitored closely by the football department.
