Flamengo has strengthened its youth academy with the arrival of young left-back Miguel, an 18-year-old prospect from Operário-PR who has signed a long-term contract with the Rio de Janeiro club.
Flamengo continues to monitor the young talent market to strengthen its youth squad. The club’s newest signing is 18-year-old left-back Miguel, who arrives in Rio de Janeiro after impressing with Operário-PR. The deal was recently formalized, ensuring the player’s presence at Ninho do Urubu until July 2028.
The player, who possesses an impressive physical build at 1.84m tall, caught the attention of the Rubro-Negro scouting team due to his rapid progression through the lower divisions of the Paraná-based club. After joining Fantasma in 2025 for the U-17 squad, Miguel quickly advanced through the ranks and was promoted to the U-20s ahead of schedule, demonstrating the technical maturity to join professional team training sessions during the last preseason.
Deal details and the prospect’s future
The transfer was structured so that both institutions would retain a portion of the player’s economic rights. Currently, Flamengo and Operário-PR equally share Miguel‘s economic rights, with 50% for each side. However, the contract includes a preference clause that allows the Rubro-Negro to acquire a larger share of the percentage belonging to the Paraná club throughout the duration of the agreement.
The left-back’s recent career includes valuable experience transitioning to the professional level, having participated in five matches during the Copa Sul-Sudeste for the senior team. The club’s board’s investment in Miguel reinforces its strategy of developing promising talents who can eventually join the main squad or generate financial returns from future sales.
Impact and expectations in the youth setup
Miguel‘s arrival is viewed with optimism by the youth academy’s coaching staff. With the contract signed until 2028, the player will have time for adaptation and physical development within Flamengo‘s excellent training center structure.
The expectation is that the left-back will join the Rubro-Negro U-20 squad for the remainder of the season, aiming to build rhythm and chemistry with his new teammates. The young player’s career management will be monitored by the M360 Team, which will closely follow the new gem’s performance in national youth competitions.
