URT officially becomes a SAF and sells 90% of its controlling stake for R$90 million. The Minas Gerais club projects a promising future with a new millionaire investment.
The Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF – Football Corporation) gains another member in Minas Gerais. URT, a traditional club from Patos de Minas, unanimously approved its transformation to the new management model. This historic decision includes the sale of 90% of its shares to Tera Participações e Investimentos Ltda., a company in the agribusiness sector led by businessman Paulo Augusto Rezende.
This move represents a new era for the Trovão Azul (Blue Thunder), marking a significant capital injection and administrative restructuring. The transaction establishes a substantial investment commitment that promises to boost the club’s sporting and infrastructural development in the coming years.
Investment and Financial Commitments
The agreement signed between URT and Tera Participações e Investimentos Ltda. foresees a minimum contribution of R$90 million over two decades. This amount will be distributed annually, with the new management committing to invest at least R$4.5 million per year. This sum aims to cover essential expenses such as the roster of athletes, infrastructure modernization, logistics, personnel, and the settlement of accumulated debts.
Club Structure and Governance
In addition to the financial capital, the contract guarantees the transfer of the Zama Maciel Stadium and the Vila Olímpica to the SAF. It is important to note that these assets cannot be sold without prior approval of a project for the construction of a new field or training center for the association. The governance of the new SAF will include the URT association, which will retain the remaining 10% of the shares and will have representation with one seat on both the Board of Directors and the Fiscal Council, ensuring participation in strategic decisions. The agreement also grants the association the right of first refusal in case of future sale of SAF quotas.
Preservation of Identity and Future Planning
One of the crucial points of the transaction’s bylaws is the protection of the club’s identity. The names, colors, anthem, mascot, and the home city of URT cannot be changed, preserving the history and connection with its fanbase. Despite the transition, the club is already focusing on planning for the 2027 season, when it will compete in the Campeonato Mineiro (Minas Gerais Championship), the Brazilian Serie D, and the Copa do Brasil (Brazil Cup), under the command of coach Cícero Júnior.
URT’s change to the SAF model aligns it with the growing trend in Brazilian football. In 2025, the club was the only representative from the first division of the Campeonato Mineiro still operating under the associative format, demonstrating a significant step towards professionalization and modernization of its management.
The transformation of URT into a SAF and the injection of R$90 million represent a fundamental milestone for the club from Patos de Minas. This investment promises not only financial stability but also the capacity to compete at a high level in national competitions, offering a new perspective for growth and sporting success for the team and its fans, solidifying its place in the landscape of Minas Gerais and Brazilian football.
