The Friedkin Group puts Everton on the transfer market. Valued at R$ 7 billion, the English club faces a moment of uncertainty under new management.

The ownership structure of the historic Everton Football Club could undergo a significant change in the near future. Less than two years after taking control of the club, the American conglomerate The Friedkin Group (TFG), led by businessman Dan Friedkin, has opened talks to evaluate a potential sale of the institution, according to information reported by journalist David Ornstein.

The move comes at a time of strategic transition, after the group focused its efforts on financial stabilization and the historic move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, inaugurated in 2025. Although the search for an investor is on the table, current management emphasizes that there is no rush and that operational support for the club will remain unchanged until a new partner is found.

Billion-dollar valuation and market scenario

The estimated amount for the transaction is around 1 billion pounds, which equates to roughly R$ 7 billion at the current exchange rate. It is important to note that this market value includes the institution’s financial liabilities, exceeding the initial investment of approximately R$ 2.8 billion made by the North American group in December 2024.

The asset’s appreciation was directly driven by the delivery of the new arena, which offers a revenue potential far superior to the old Goodison Park. However, the next owner will need financial strength not only to honor current commitments but also to invest in a squad that has faced criticism from fans following the departure of key players and a lack of adequate replacements.

The group is open to negotiating full control if they find the ideal buyer, ensuring that financial support and operational stability will be maintained throughout the transition period.

Everton’s future behind the scenes

To guide this prospecting process, TFG hired the renowned investment bank Moelis & Company. The mission is to survey the landscape and filter potential interested parties with the capacity to manage the club over the long term. To date, no name or business group has been formally linked to the purchase.

The current phase of uncertainty behind the scenes contrasts with the structural progress the club has achieved in recent months. While the board evaluates alternatives, Everton remains focused on its Premier League campaign, trying to balance fan expectations with the rigorous management of one of the most valuable brands in English football. The outcome of this operation will be decisive for the tier the team aims to reach in upcoming seasons on the European stage.
