Sport announces the dismissal of Gilmar Dal Pozzo after Série B setback against Ceará
The 2-1 defeat to Ceará, in a match valid for the 26th round of the Série B, sealed Gilmar Dal Pozzo‘s fate as manager of Sport. The coach could not withstand the pressure and was dismissed by the Pernambuco club this Saturday at Arena Castelão. This marks the fourth manager to lead the Leão da Ilha in less than a year.
Dal Pozzo leaves his post after managing the team in 11 matches in the competition, accumulating a modest record of just three wins, four draws, and four losses. Despite flirting with the G-6 at times, the manager failed to instill the consistency needed to keep the team among the league leaders.

The departure of the coach and his assistant, Emerson Nunes, was confirmed in an official statement released by Sport through its communication channels.

In search of a new leader
With the managerial vacancy, Sport is already moving in the transfer market in search of a replacement. According to information obtained by the M360 team, the name of Thiago Carpini has emerged as the primary option. The club has reportedly already made contact with the manager, who is currently a free agent.
It is worth noting that this is not the first attempt by the Leão da Ilha to sign Carpini, who had been approached previously but turned down the offer.
A turbulent season for the coaching staff
Dal Pozzo’s exit highlights the instability Sport has experienced regarding its coaching staff throughout the season. The club began the year under the command of Roger Silva, followed by the tenure of Márcio Goiano, leading up to the arrival of Gilmar Dal Pozzo. None of these managers managed to establish a long-term project.
Currently, Sport sits in eighth place in the Série B table with 38 points, four points behind CRB, who sit in sixth place inside the promotion zone.
The team returns to the field next Thursday to face Ponte Preta at Ilha do Retiro, in a crucial game for their promotion aspirations. The search for a new manager has therefore become an urgent priority to try and get the team back on track.
