Palmeiras has officially sidelined forward Felipe Teresa from its youth academy following serious physical assault accusations made by the player’s ex-wife on social media.

Palmeiras has made a firm and immediate decision in light of recent allegations involving player Felipe Teresa, who is part of the club’s U-20 squad. The São Paulo-based club announced through an official statement that the player is suspended from all youth academy activities following the public outcry over a domestic violence incident reportedly occurring in mid-August.

The measure was taken after Marcelle Barbosa, the forward’s former partner, published a compelling video detailing the assaults she claims to have suffered. The case, which is already under investigation by authorities, includes serious allegations of physical attacks by the athlete, sparking outrage across the sports world and social media.

The Verdão’s Stance

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira was direct in ordering the young forward’s suspension as soon as the board became aware of the accusations. In a statement, the club reinforced its position against any act of violence, especially against women, emphasizing that it will closely monitor the investigation of the facts by the competent authorities.

“As soon as it became aware of the complaint filed against player Felipe Teresa, from the U-20 team, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira ordered the player’s immediate removal from youth activities. The club does not tolerate any form of violence against women and awaits the investigation of the facts to take further appropriate action.”

Details of the Victim’s Account

According to Marcelle Barbosa‘s account, the violent episode occurred on August 15, during a van trip between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The victim describes a trivial argument about travel plans escalating into physical assaults, including a punch to the face delivered in front of the couple’s child, during a stop near Serra das Araras.

In addition to the assaults, the woman stated she was abandoned without assistance and later faced pressure from representatives of Felipe Teresa. According to her testimony, the envoys’ objective was to make her sign documents waiving rights related to the common-law marriage they maintained for three years.

Palmeiras‘ decision sidelines Felipe Teresa indefinitely while the police report proceeds through the legal system. The club maintains its zero-tolerance policy, awaiting the outcome of the investigations to define the player’s permanent future at the institution. The case remains under analysis by the competent police authorities.
