Midfielder Pedro Henrique bids farewell to Paysandu and prepares for a new chapter at Flamengo.
The future of Brazilian youth football gains a new talent. Young midfielder Pedro Henrique, just 18 years old, published an emotional farewell letter to Paysandu, the club that developed him since he was 15. The player, who became the largest sale in the history of the club from Pará, is now preparing to wear the Flamengo jersey, with his presentation scheduled for next Monday (12) at Ninho do Urubu.
Pedro Henrique‘s journey at Papão is marked by achievements and a strong bond with the supporters. He was a key figure in the victories of the Campeonato Paraense, Copa Norte, and Copa Verde, in addition to actively participating in the professional team. His transfer to Flamengo represents a significant investment of R$ 3.04 million, with Paysandu retaining 7% of his economic rights for future negotiations.
The farewell of an idol in the making
On his social media, Pedro Henrique shared his feelings about his departure:
“Today is one of those days when your heart aches. I arrived at Paysandu at 15 years old, full of dreams and unable to imagine all that God was preparing for me. Here I grew up, learned everything I know to this day, lived unforgettable moments, and achieved everything I could dream of in the youth ranks. In the professional team, I was even able to fulfill the dream of Pedro the Bicolor fan, winning 3 professional titles wearing this shirt. I only have to thank God, my family, teammates, staff, coaching staff, board of directors, and everyone who believed in me and was part of this journey. And, above all, the Bicolor supporters. You were part of every chapter of this story. Thank you for all the affection, support, and for never stopping believing. Today I move on to live a new dream, but I carry Paysandu with me in my heart. I am leaving, but I will be back. Because once Paysandu, always Paysandu! Thank you for everything, Papão. See you soon.”
An uncertain yet promising future
Pedro Henrique‘s farewell from the Paysandu squad comes with an extra dash of expectation. Suspended from the final round of the Brazilian Serie C, the midfielder might join the delegation in Santa Catarina on Saturday (10) for a decisive match regarding promotion to Serie B. The club needs to beat Brusque and hope for other results. If promotion is secured, the youngster will be able to celebrate with the fans before heading to Rio de Janeiro. If Papão fails to go up, Pedro Henrique will travel directly from Santa Catarina to report to the Rubro-Negro.
At Flamengo, the midfielder will compete for a spot in the U-20 team, with the goal of showing his potential and, perhaps, making it to the senior team. His stint at Paysandu, with 41 matches, two goals, and two assists for the main team, qualifies him to be yet another promising name emerging on the Brazilian football scene.
