Special Traffic Operation for Flamengo vs. Del Valle Match at Maracanã on Thursday (17th)
Rio de Janeiro is implementing a urban mobility plan this Thursday (17th) for the clash between Flamengo and Independiente del Valle (EQU), valid for the Libertadores. CET-Rio (Rio de Janeiro’s Traffic Department) announced the closure of several streets around the Maracanã Stadium, aiming to ensure safety and traffic flow for the expected large crowd.
The traffic operation, which includes a parking ban in strategic locations, will begin at 10 AM and extend until 1:30 AM on Friday (18th).

CET-Rio agents will be stationed at crucial points to guide drivers and pedestrians. The closures will affect important access routes to the temple of football.
Maracanã Avenue will have traffic blocked in both directions, in the stretch between São Francisco Xavier Street and Rei Pelé Avenue.
Streets with Closures
Other important streets will also experience closures. Rei Pelé Avenue, towards the city center, will be one of them. Additionally, the following streets will be closed:
- Professor Eurico Rabelo
- Artur Menezes
- Conselheiro Olegário
- Isidro de Figueiredo
- Visconde de Itamarati
- Mata Machado
- Dona Zulmira
- Oduvaldo Cozzi Viaduct
- Professor Manoel de Abreu Avenue
Public Transport Recommendation
Given the restrictions, CET-Rio strongly recommends using public transportation. For those needing to travel between the Downtown area and the South Zone, or to the Tijuca, Vila Isabel, Grajaú, and Grande Méier regions, the suggestion is to seek alternative routes and plan the trip in advance.
The match between Flamengo and Independiente del Valle promises a full house, with over 55,000 tickets already confirmed. Flamengo, nicknamed the Rubro-Negro, enters the match with the advantage of having won the first leg 2-0 and can even afford to lose by one goal to advance to the semifinals of the Libertadores.
Kick-off is scheduled for 9:30 PM, with broadcasts guaranteed by ESPN and Disney+.
