Expectations are rising at the Ninho do Urubu training center as the squad holds its final session this Tuesday (11). Head coach Leonardo Jardim is using the morning session to finalize the details of the team that will take the field against Cruzeiro in the first leg of the Libertadores round of 16.
The match, which takes place this Wednesday (12) at 9:30 PM (Brasília time) at the Mineirão, marks a crucial moment for Flamengo this season. The coaching staff’s focus is to secure the best strategy for the away game, solidifying the tactical setup that will be taken to Belo Horizonte.
Lineup adjustments and injury concerns
The Rubro-Negro team is expected to start with: Rossi; Varela, Léo Ortiz, Léo Pereira, Ayrton Lucas; Erick Pulgar, Jorginho, and Arrascaeta; Jorge Carrascal, Samuel Lino, and Pedro. However, the final lineup depends on the recovery of players currently in the medical department.
Full-back Alex Sandro, who is being treated for calf pain, and forward Everton Cebolinha, recovering from the flu, remain doubtful. In addition to them, defender Vitão and forward Luiz Araújo are still out due to injury. According to the M360 Staff, this morning’s training is the turning point for finalizing the squad list.
Logistics and focus on the competition
Following the session, the Mais Querido delegation will travel to Minas Gerais. The flight is scheduled for 4:00 PM (Brasília time) this Tuesday. Physical and mental preparation for this opening leg is essential, as the club is defending its South American title.
The group is aware of the importance of this stage. We need a solid result away from home to bring an advantage back to the Maracanã.
Noted the M360 Staff.
The second leg is scheduled for August 19th at the Maracanã, also at 9:30 PM. Until then, Flamengo is focusing all its energy on this Wednesday’s challenge, which will be broadcast by Rede Globo with full coverage by the M360 Staff directly from the Mineirão.
