Internacional’s vice-president makes surprising comments regarding fan attendance at the Beira-Rio for the upcoming match against Flamengo, amidst the club’s Brazilian Serie A crisis.

After suffering their fourth consecutive loss in the Brazilian Serie A, Internacional is currently in a turbulent phase. With alarm bells ringing due to their proximity to the relegation zone, the club is preparing for a decisive clash against Flamengo next Wednesday, at 7:30 PM, at Beira-Rio stadium.

In an interview after the 2-0 defeat to Athletico-PR at Arena da Baixada, Internacional’s vice-president, Victor Grunberg, addressed the fans’ dissatisfaction. In a speech that resonated among supporters, the executive, while inviting fans to the clash against the Rubro-Negro, admitted he understood the absence of those frustrated with the team’s current performance.

A Divisive Speech

“I understand the fans’ discomfort. On Wednesday, we have a very tough battle, and I hope the fans can be present. If they choose not to be, I understand. But I am sure they will be present and support the team,” Grunberg declared.

The executive’s statement reflects the tense atmosphere at Beira-Rio. Inter is on a negative streak that places the team in a delicate situation in the Serie A standings. The momentary relief of the round came only from parallel results, with draws by Vasco and Mirassol, which prevented the Colorado from entering the relegation zone at this time.

A Scenario of Rebuilding and Challenges

The vice-president avoided a deep analysis of the club’s management, focusing on the team’s technical performance on the field. Commenting on the match against Athletico-PR, Grunberg highlighted the technical and tactical disparity of their opponent, who currently sits in the top four of the competition, suggesting that the clubs’ objectives are different this season.

“Today we came here to face a team that is in the top four of the Brasileirão, a team that is competing in a different championship. We know what championship they are competing in, and it’s not ours,” the executive pointed out after the defeat in Curitiba.

For the Colorado fans, all that remains now is to await the clash against Flamengo. With pressure from the stands and an urgent need to recover in the standings, the game promises to be a watershed moment for Internacional’s ambitions for the remainder of the Campeonato Brasileiro 2026.
