Former Palmeiras player Luan involved in assaults after expulsion in Brazilian Serie D.
Forward Luan, who has played for Palmeiras and Cruzeiro, was involved in regrettable scenes at the end of the match between Gama and ASA, a semifinal of the 2026 Brazilian Serie D Championship.
The player, who plays for the home team at the Bezerrão stadium, was sent off in the 44th minute of the second half after an elbow to midfielder Allef. Referee Gustavo Bauermann’s decision was confirmed after a VAR review.
Fury After the Red Card
The expulsion, however, was just the beginning of the chaos. Visibly agitated, Luan did not hold back and went after other ASA players.
The former Palmeiras player threw a series of punches at defender Roni Lobo, goalkeeper Rafael Mariano, and midfielder Richard Franco. The widespread aggression escalated the tension on the field, requiring the intervention of the Military Police and definitively halting the match.
The Game and ASA’s Qualification
Despite the confusion, the sporting result secured ASA’s qualification for the Serie D final. The goalless draw at Bezerrão, combined with a 2-0 victory in the first leg in Arapiraca, sealed the spot for the Alagoas team in the final.
ASA will face Uberlândia in the dispute for the title of the Fourth National Division.
The incident with Luan casts a shadow over the final stretch of Serie D and raises questions about the conduct of athletes in moments of high pressure.
