Mengão is champion! Flamengo comes back against Praia Clube to take the SuperVolei Cup
Sesc RJ Flamengo showed strength and resilience by winning the SuperVolei Cup title, a friendly tournament that marked the start of the 2026/27 women’s volleyball season. The red-and-black team defeated Dentil Praia Clube 3 sets to 2 in an electrifying match held at Arena Niterói.
Epic Comeback at Arena Niterói
The match began with Flamengo trailing, losing the first two sets to the Minas Gerais team 25-18 and 25-23. However, boosted by the support of their fans, Mengão staged a spectacular comeback. The team won three consecutive sets, with scores of 25/20, 25/22, and 15/10, securing the victory and the trophy.
SuperVolei Cup: A New Competition
This was the first edition of the SuperVolei Cup, which featured three participating teams. Flamengo had already defeated Fluminense 3 sets to 1 in the opening round. Saturday’s victory (26) against Praia Clube sealed the title in the friendly tournament.
Sesc RJ Flamengo’s Upcoming Challenges
With the SuperVolei Cup title in hand, Bernardinho’s squad is preparing for future challenges. The schedule includes a friendly match against Dentil Praia Clube on October 3rd in Campo Bom (RS). Following that, the focus shifts to the Carioca Championship, from October 6th to 13th. The official Women’s Superliga season begins on October 19th, with the red-and-black team facing Paulistano Barueri.
