Dynamo Moscow seals the signing of Gonzalo Plata for 10 million euros. The forward says goodbye to Flamengo and focuses on his new chapter in Europe.
Flamengo confirmed this Friday (August 28, 2026) the sale of forward Gonzalo Plata to Dynamo Moscow, in Russia. The player completed his final training session at Ninho do Urubu and is saying goodbye to the red-and-black squad to begin his journey in European football.
The transfer, valued at around 10 million euros (approximately 60.1 million Brazilian reais), represents a significant move in the transfer market, with the potential for an additional 2 million euros in performance-based bonuses.
Time in Rio de Janeiro
Plata arrived in Rio de Janeiro in the second half of 2024 from Al-Sadd, in Qatar, in a deal worth 9.1 million dollars. Over two seasons, the Ecuadorian played 100 matches for Mengão, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists.
His stint was marked by major achievements, including the 2024 Copa do Brasil, the 2025 Libertadores, the 2025 Brazilian Serie A, the 2025 Supercopa do Brasil, and two Campeonatos Cariocas (2025 and 2026).
Pressure for valuation and European desire
Although he was a starter under coach Leonardo Jardim, Plata’s future at the Rio club became uncertain due to internal pressure for a salary increase or a transfer.
The player’s and his staff’s desire to play in Europe, especially following the World Cup, was a determining factor in the negotiation. Despite receiving inquiries from Mexican clubs, Plata’s priority was the European continent.

The forward departs this Saturday (August 29, 2026) for Russia, where he will join Dynamo Moscow. Interestingly, he will share his flight with Botafogo’sMatheus Martins, another player recently transferred to the Russian club.
