Flamengo has made the sale of forward Gonzalo Plata to Dynamo Moscow official. The Rio de Janeiro club will receive 12 million euros upfront for the transfer of the Ecuadorian athlete.
Flamengo’s board has finalized negotiations for the transfer of Gonzalo Plata to Russian football. The deal, consolidated with Dynamo Moscow, provides immediate financial relief to the Rubro-Negro’s coffers, which will pocket 12 million euros — approximately R$ 72.5 million at the current exchange rate — in a single installment.
The player, who arrived in Rio de Janeiro in August 2024, accumulated 100 official matches for the club. Although his statistics of nine goals and 14 assists were not particularly impressive, the Ecuadorian was seen as a fundamental piece for coach Leonardo Jardim’s tactical balance.
His departure, however, was motivated by the advantageous salary offer made by the Russians and the financial liquidity that the transaction offers to Mengão.
Tactical Impact and the Transfer Market
Plata’s departure opens a void in the squad, especially in the attacking sector. With the player’s flight to Russia scheduled for this Friday (28), he is already out of the derby against Botafogo, valid for the 25th round of the Brazilian Serie A.
The coaching staff will need to resort to improvisations or adjust the tactical system to compensate for the loss on the right wing.
