Flamengo announced important moves to strengthen its youth academy, with a special focus on the U-20 category. The club’s board secured the arrival of two new talents and the retention of a key player for the club’s future.
Signings for the U-20 Squad
Young forward Andrew Nathan Vasconcelos de Araújo is the newest addition to the U-20 team. After a stint with Bahia, the player signed a professional contract with Flamengo valid until 2028. The signing aims to enhance the youth academy’s offensive sector.
For the goalkeeper position, Flamengo agreed to a loan for Pedro Henrique Martins Pereira, coming from Novorizontino. He arrives to fill the gap left by Eduardo Clasen and has already shown potential, earning call-ups to the Brazil national youth team.
Contract Extension
In the defensive sector, right-back Diego Guimarães das Neves, known as Dieguinho, had his contract extended until July 2029. A member of the squad since 2021, the player has solidified his place in the red-and-black youth categories.
New Youth Academy Philosophy
Under the leadership of Alfredo Almeida, Flamengo‘s youth academy management has implemented a new philosophy focused on individual technical development, aiming to polish talents for the professional team. The goal is to develop internationally impactful athletes.
