Chapecoense announces Dudu to bolster the right-back position and address squad depth.
Chapecoense officially announced the signing of 29-year-old right-back Dudu this Friday. The player joins the Santa Catarina club on loan from Guarani, with the deal running until the end of the Brazilian Serie A season. The transfer, finalized on the final day of the transfer window, aims primarily to address a series of absences in that position that have hampered the team from Chapecó.
The new signing is expected to report to the club this Sunday. A product of Figueirense’s youth academy, Dudu has a resume featuring stints with several traditional Brazilian clubs, including Athletico-PR, Criciúma, Internacional, Atlético-GO, and Fortaleza. In his most recent spell with Guarani, the full-back appeared in three matches, contributing one goal and one assist for the São Paulo side.
New Options for the Right-Back Role
With the arrival of Dudu, the squad managed by head coach Rafael Lacerda now has four players available for the right-back position. The options now include Bruno Tubarão, Dudu, Everton, and Heitor. However, the need for reinforcement becomes even more apparent when considering that Bruno Tubarão and Heitor are currently sidelined with injuries, which had limited the tactical options on that side of the pitch.
