But the ambitious plan goes further, with the CBF evaluating the introduction of two new cutting-edge tools for 2027.

The CBF’s attention is focused on two promising technologies. One is the “refcam,” a camera installed on the referee that captivated the world at the last World Cup, offering a unique perspective of the match. The other is Goal Line Technology (GLT). Unlike FIFA’s system, which uses chips in the ball, the CBF’s proposal involves monitoring with specific cameras that will send a direct signal to the referee confirming whether the ball has completely crossed the line.
Investment in Refereeing and the Future of the Passion
All this technological advancement is reflected in a robust investment. In 2026, the CBF launched a referee appreciation program, hiring 72 professionals and projecting a total investment of R$195 million for the years 2026 and 2027. This amount represents an increase of R$50 million compared to the previous two-year period, demonstrating a commitment to the quality and modernity of refereeing.
