Following a setback against Cruzeiro, Flamengo intensifies preparations at Ninho do Urubu, aiming for recovery in the Brazilian Serie A ahead of Sunday’s match against Botafogo.
Flamengo’s squad resumed training this Thursday (27) with a clear objective: to correct the costly errors from the last round and secure three points in the derby against Botafogo. Head coach Leonardo Jardim is leading the session at Ninho do Urubu, starting at 10 AM, looking to fine-tune the tactical setup for the 25th round of the Brazilian Serie A.
Full Focus on Recovery
The need for a victory is urgent after the painful 2-1 defeat to Cruzeiro. On that occasion, the Rubro-Negro even took the lead with a goal from Pedro, but suffered a defensive lapse in the final half, allowing the Minas Gerais-based team to turn the game around in stoppage time. For the coaching staff, the focus now is to shield the group and regain confidence.
After today’s training session, Flamengo will also hold a press conference at the Training Center (CT). The club has not confirmed which athlete or coaching staff member will be responsible for addressing journalists, but the central theme of the questions is expected to be the strategy for the decisive clash at the Maracanã.
League Standings and the Derby
Currently, Flamengo remains at 45 points, seeing the gap to league leaders Palmeiras widen to six points after the São Paulo-based team’s victory over Vasco. Although their direct rival has played one more game, the margin for error for the Rubro-Negro squad has become minimal in this final stretch of the competition.
The derby against Botafogo will take place this Sunday (30) at 4 PM BRT. The match will have extensive coverage, including Rede Globo on free-to-air TV, as well as GE TV and pay-per-view via Premiere. As usual, the Equipe M360 will bring all the behind-the-scenes action and full post-match coverage for the fans.
