Manchester United is keeping Brazilian midfielder Éderson on their radar for the upcoming season, evaluating a potential move with new terms after medical exam complications and changes in the transfer window.
The saga involving Brazilian midfielder Éderson and Manchester United has taken a new turn. Although the initial £38 million deal with Atalanta faced a strategic pause, the English club does not rule out resuming talks. The Old Trafford side maintains its interest but is now seeking a readjustment in the proposed figures to finalize the player’s arrival.
The main stumbling block occurred due to Éderson‘s last-minute call-up to the Brazil national team during the World Cup. The need to undergo medical examinations in the United States raised physical uncertainties, leading United to suspend the previous agreement for an in-depth evaluation with external specialists.
Possibility of Returning to the Negotiation Table
Despite the caution, the relationship between the club and the player’s representatives remains solid. According to British broadcaster Sky Sports, Manchester United‘s board understands the atypical situation experienced by the midfielder and his family. The club believes that, depending on the dynamics of the transfer window and a revision of the financial terms, the deal could still be finalized.
“The interest has not ended. The club understands there is room for talks to resume, provided that the contract conditions are adjusted to the new market reality and conclusive physical assessments.”
Carrick’s Midfield Overhaul
While monitoring Éderson‘s situation, Manchester United continues to be aggressive in the market to cover the absences of Casemiro and the injured Manuel Ugarte. The Michael Carrick era made significant strides this Monday with the official signing of Andrey Santos, acquired from Chelsea for £50 million.
In addition to Andrey Santos, the club is close to announcing the signing of Belgian Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa in a £36 million deal. The arrival of new names, however, does not rule out Éderson‘s acquisition. United‘s plan is to bolster the defensive midfield with multiple players, maintaining the dream of having the Brazilian talent for their Premier League campaign.
