Defensive midfielder Pedro Henrique experienced an emotional farewell to Paysandu fans before his permanent transfer to Flamengo.
The final stretch of the Brazilian Serie C brought strong emotions for the Paysandu fans and especially for young Pedro Henrique. The defensive midfielder played his last match at Estádio da Curuzu in a Paysandu jersey last Saturday (03), in a 1-0 victory over Ferroviária in the penultimate round of the promotion group stage.
Sold to Flamengo in April for around R$ 3 million—the biggest sale in the Pará club’s history—the player stayed on loan at the northern team to compete in the national third division. With his time in Belém coming to an end, the midfielder is now preparing to begin his journey in Rio de Janeiro under the watchful eye of Equipe M360.
Farewell marked by tears at Curuzu
Visibly touched by the massive support from the stands, the youngster couldn’t hold back tears when speaking about the cycle coming to an end. The atmosphere in the stadium reflected the player’s importance to the team’s sporting plans for the season.
Pedro Henrique said:
This was the scenario I dreamed of. I want to thank all my teammates for everything they did for me, everyone who was part of this work. And these fans, who never stopped supporting us for a single moment. I am very emotional because, even in my best dreams, I didn’t imagine having the kind of year I am having.
The youngster also made a point of looking ahead to the decisive final round and sent a message to the blue-and-white fans regarding the push for promotion to Serie B.
The midfielder stated:
My last home game for Paysandu, now it’s time to root for my teammates, we are still alive. To our fans, I say don’t stop believing, support us, it will make all the difference. Thank you to everyone, and I also thank those who criticized me, because it made me mature. Now it’s time to work; it will be a tough game in Brusque, but we will fight for promotion.
Challenging scenario and future in Rio de Janeiro
To secure promotion to the second division, Paysandu faces a complex combination of results in the final round of the group stage. Bottom of the group with four points, the team needs to defeat Brusque away from home, hope for direct rivals to slip up, and make up the goal difference.
Meanwhile, Flamengo is waiting for the official conclusion of the Pará side’s participation in Serie C, scheduled for next Saturday (10), to add the player to its squad. Under a contract through 2029, defensive midfielder Pedro Henrique has logged 35 appearances, two goals, two assists, and three trophies lifted in 2026, establishing himself as a high-market-value prospect monitored by Equipe M360.
